About this firmware update
This service provides the software for upgrading the COOLPIX P80 firmware to ver. 1.1.
The following improvements have been made in version 1.1.
- When shooting with the Vibration reduction item in the setup menu set to On, vibration reduction did not always function in the following situations. This issue has now been resolved
When the camera was turned on or when it recovered after being set to standby mode (activated by the auto off function), with the electronic viewfinder display enabeled by pressing the monitor button
When the camera was turned on, or with recovery from standby mode (actiavted by the auto off function) with the camera connected to a television or other video device via the supplied audio/video cable (EG-CP14)
- When shooting with the Distortion control option set to On, exessive correction was sometimes applied. This issue has now been resolved.
How to confirm your cameras current firmware version
If the latest firmware versions are already installed on your P80, you need not proceed with download or installation of this Firmware Upgrade. Current firmware versions can be verified from the Firmware version item in the camera's setup menu.
1. Rotate the cameras mode dial to SET UP and turn on the camera.
2. The setup menu will be displayed in the monitor. Select Firmware Version from the setup menu.
3. The cameras firmware version will be displayed.
4. Turn the camera off.
Quick guide for download and installing this firmware update
Power the camera from AC adapter unit or use a fully charged battery.
1. Download and expand the firmware files
2.
Format an approved SD card in the camera
3.
Connect Camera to computer (in MSC USB mode) or use a SD Card Reader
4.
Copy to the top level of the card the downloaded "firmware" folder (which contains the "firmware.bin" file)
5.
Disconnect camera from computer
6.
Turn the camera on press the Menu button and select "SET UP". Rotate the multi selector to highlight

7.
Follow the camera's on-screen menus
8.
At completion of upgrade restart camera
9.
Re-format Card
