This service provides software for upgrading D300 A to ver 1.11 and B firmware to ver.1.11 from any previous version. If this latest firmware version is already installed in your camera, you need not proceed with download or installation of this Firmware Upgrade. Current firmware versions can be verified from the Firmware version item in the camera's setup menu.

Be sure to update both A firmware and B firmware to Ver. 1.11. Be aware that proper operation of your D300 is not guaranteed if either A or B firmware is updated while the other firmware is not.

How to verify your cameras current firmware version

If the latest firmware version is already installed on your camera, you need not proceed with download or installation of this Firmware Upgrade. The current firmware version can be verified from the Firmware version item in the camera's setup menu.

  1. Turn on the camera.
  2. Press the MENU button to display the menu screen.  
  3. Select the Setup Menu.
  4. Select Firmware version .
  5. The camera's firmware version will be displayed.
  6. Turn off the camera.

Firmware Upgrade Instructions

If you are comfortable with the process to upgrade your camera, use the basic instructions. If you require more support, use the detailed step by step instructions which contain helpful images linked below.

Basic Firmware Upgrade Instructions
Power the camera from AC adapter unit or use a fully charged battery. Microdrives cannot be used to perform this firmware upgrade. Do not use a Lexar Media JumpShot USB cable to copy downloaded firmware to a Compact Flash memory card. The firmware may not be correctly updated.

  1. Create a new folder with an appropriate name on your computer's hard drive.

  2. Download the Windows (.EXE) or Mac (.DMG) file from the links at the bottom of this page to the folder created in step 1.

  3. Run the downloaded file to create a folder called D300Update which contains the firmware:
    • A3000111.bin :  the A firmware
    • B3000111.bin :  the B firmware

  4. Connect the camera to the computer via USB cable (be sure that the camera’s USB item in the setup menu is set to Mass Storage ), or use a card reader, and copy the downloaded A firmware to a memory card formatted by the camera and inserted in the camera or card reader. 
  5. If the camera was connected to the computer, use standard OS procedures to disconnect the camera from the computer.
  6. Insert the memory card containing the firmware in the camera's memory card slot and turn on the camera.
  7. Select Firmware version from the setup menu and follow the instructions displayed in the monitor to upgrade the firmware.
  8. After the upgrade is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  9. Format the memory card with the camera and repeat steps 4 through 8 to update B firmware.
  10. Once firmware update is complete, confirm the camera’s firmware version.  If you changed the USB setting to perform this update, it may now be changed back to MTP/PTP .
Precautions
• Immediately after updating D300 firmware from A and B firmware Ver. 1.03 or earlier to A and B firmware Ver. 1.10 or later, the ISO sensitivity settings>ISO sensitivity auto control>Minimum shutter speed setting will shift to a faster shutter speed.
• Do not load settings data saved with A firmware Ver. 1.03 or earlier/ B firmware Ver. 1.03 or earlier using the D300's Save/load settings option in the setup menu to the D300 after updating to A firmware Ver. 1.10 or later/ B firmware Ver. 1.10 or later. Settings data are not mutually compatible.
