This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below. By selecting “Accept” and clicking “Download”, you are held to have accepted the terms and conditions of the agreement. Be sure you understand the terms of the agreement before beginning download.

  • • This service supplies software that can be used to update the D5600 camera “C” firmware to version 1.20. Before proceeding, select [Firmware version] in the camera [SETUP MENU] and check the camera firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
  • • This update includes all changes made in previous updates.
  • • Read the information below before proceeding.
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.10 to 1.20
  • • Changed the default password displayed in the network connection function.
    Selecting [SETUP MENU] > [Wi-Fi] > [Reset connection settings] will change the default password.
Changes from Previous Versions
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.03 to 1.10
  • • The camera can now connect via Wi-Fi to devices running SnapBridge. For more information, see the “Addendum to the User’s Manual” in which this feature is described. Before using this feature, upgrade to the following version of the app:
    • - SnapBridge version 2.5.4 or later
  • • Fixed the following issue:
    • - Touch Fn would sometimes not be available.
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.02 to 1.03
  • • The [SETUP MENU] > [Time zone and date] > [Time zone] display now shows only the names of major cities in the currently selected zone.
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.01 to 1.02
  • • Improved pairing and connectivity between the camera and Android versions of the SnapBridge app.
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.00 to 1.01
  • • Improved an issue that resulted in unreliable connections between the camera and the iOS 10.2 version of the SnapBridge app.
Viewing the Camera Firmware Version
  1. Turn the camera on.
  2. Press the camera MENU button and select [Firmware version] in the [SETUP MENU] to display the camera firmware version.
  3. Check the camera firmware version.
  4. Turn the camera off.

Updating the Camera Firmware
  1. Download the following firmware file to your computer.
    Please make sure you have the downloaded firmware file on your computer.
    • D5600_0120.bin (the camera firmware)
  2. Using a card slot or card reader, copy “D5600_0120.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
    Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
  3. Insert the memory card into the Slot on the camera and turn the camera on.
  4. Select [Firmware version] in the [SETUP MENU] and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
  5. Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  6. Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

Note: Updates can be performed for you by a Nikon-authorized service representative.
