- • This service supplies software that can be used to update the firmware for NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 lenses to version 1.10. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
- • This firmware update is performed with a NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 lens attached to a camera. See “Compatible Cameras” for a list of compatible cameras.
- • To perform the update, you will need the memory card used in the camera and a compatible card reader.
- • Read the information below before proceeding.

The following cameras can be used to update the firmware for NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 lenses:

- Changes from Firmware Version 1.00 to 1.10

- • The lens now supports options for [Focus ring rotation range] * in the camera [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU] in addition to [Non-linear]. When a linear option is selected, rotating the control ring the selected amount in manual focus mode will take the lens from the minimum focus distance to infinity, regardless of the speed with which the ring is rotated.
* As of August 2024, the cameras that support this option are (from “C” firmware version 2.00) the Z9, Z8, Z6III, Zf and (from “C” firmware version 1.40) the Z7II and Z6II.

- Viewing the Lens Firmware Version

- Attach a NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 lens to the camera and turn the camera on.
- Press the camera MENU button and select [SETUP MENU] > [Firmware version] to display the camera and lens firmware versions.
- Check the firmware version.
- Turn the camera off.

- Updating the Lens Firmware

- Download the following firmware file to your computer.
Please make sure you have the downloaded firmware file on your computer.
• MLZ40F2_0110.bin (the lens firmware)
- Using a card slot or card reader, copy “MLZ40F2_0110.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
- Insert the memory card into the camera and turn the camera on.
- Select [SETUP MENU] > [Firmware version] and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the firmware update.
- When a message is displayed stating that the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
- Turn the camera on and confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.
