This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below.   • • This service supplies software that can be used to update the Z 30 camera “C” firmware to version 1.10. Check the camera firmware version before proceeding. You will not need to download this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
  • • Read the information below before proceeding.
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.00 to 1.10
  • • Added support for the iOS edition of NX MobileAir. Use NX MobileAir version 1.1.3 or later.
  • • Added support for MC-N10 remote grips.
  • • Added support for the power zoom feature available on some lenses.
  • • Added support for EN-EL25a rechargeable Li-ion batteries.
  • • A red frame is now displayed around the monitor during video recording to indicate that recording is in progress.
  • • The elapsed recording time is now displayed during video recording.
  • • The camera will now focus with each shot taken using an ML-L7 if [AF-C] is selected for [Focus mode] and [Release] is selected for Custom Setting a1 [AF-C priority selection] in the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].
  • • Autofocus has been improved so that the focus position will not change if the shutter-release button is pressed halfway during memory recall in any focus mode.
  • • Focus-point selection for self-portrait mode using an ML-L7 has been improved.

Viewing the Camera Firmware Version
  1. Turn the camera on.
  2. Press the camera MENU button and select [Firmware version] in the [SETUP MENU] to display the camera firmware version.
  3. Check the camera firmware version.
  4. Turn the camera off.

Updating the Camera Firmware
  1. Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
  2. Download F-Z30-V110W.exe to the folder created in Step 1.
  3. Run F-Z30-V110W.exe to extract the following file to a folder named “Z30Update”:
    • Z_30_0110.bin (the camera firmware)
  4. Using a card reader, copy “Z_30_0110.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
    Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
  5. Insert the memory card into the camera and turn the camera on.
  6. Select [Firmware version] in the [SETUP MENU] and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
  7. Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  8. Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

Updating the Camera Firmware
  1. Download F-Z30-V110M.dmg.
  2. Double-click the F-Z30-V110M.dmg icon to mount a disk image containing a folder named “Z30Update”, which in turn contains the following file:
    • Z_30_0110.bin (the camera firmware)
  3. Using a card reader, copy “Z_30_0110.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
    Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
  4. Insert the memory card into the camera and turn the camera on.
  5. Select [Firmware version] in the [SETUP MENU] and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
  6. Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  7. Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.
