- • This service supplies software that can be used to update the firmware for NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S lenses to version 1.10. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
- • This firmware update is performed with a NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S lens attached to a camera. See “Compatible Cameras” for a list of compatible cameras.
- • To perform the update, you will need the memory card used in the camera and a compatible card reader.
- • Read the information below before proceeding.

- Changes from Firmware Version 1.01 to 1.10

- • Added support for linear manual focus control via the lens control ring. When an option other than [Non-linear] is selected for Custom Setting f9 [Focus ring rotation range] in the camera [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU], rotating the lens control ring through the selected range will take focus from the minimum focus distance to infinity, regardless of how fast the ring is rotated. As of December 2022, [Focus ring rotation range] is available with the Z 9 (“C” firmware version 2.00 or later) and the Z 7II/Z 6II (“C” firmware version 1.40 or later).

- • Fixed an issue with Z-series cameras that caused the shooting display to brighten momentarily and “F--” to appear in the aperture displays while autofocus was in progress.

- Attach a NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S lens to the camera and turn the camera on.
- Press the camera MENU button and select [SETUP MENU] > [Firmware version] to display the camera and lens firmware versions.
- Check the firmware version.
- Turn the camera off.

- Updating the Lens Firmware

- Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
- Download F-MLZ20F18S-V0110W.exe to the folder created in Step 1.
- Run F-MLZ20F18S-V0110W.exe to extract the following file to a folder named “Z20F18SUpdate”:
• MLZ20F18S0110.bin (the lens firmware)
- Using a card slot or card reader, copy “MLZ20F18S0110.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
- Insert the memory card into the camera and turn the camera on.
- Select [SETUP MENU] > [Firmware version] and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the firmware update.
- When a message is displayed stating that the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
- Turn the camera on and confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

- Download F-MLZ20F18S-V0110M.dmg.
- Double-click the F-MLZ20F18S-V0110M.dmg icon to mount a disk image containing a folder named “Z20F18SUpdate”, which in turn contains the following file:
