This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below. By selecting “Accept” and clicking “Download”, you are held to have accepted the terms and conditions of the agreement. Be sure you understand the terms of the agreement before beginning download.

  • • This service supplies software that can be used to update the firmware for the FTZ mount adapter to version 1.10. Before proceeding, select Firmware version in the camera SETUP MENU and check the current mount adapter (MA) firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
  • • This firmware update is performed with an FTZ mount adapter attached to a camera. See “Compatible Cameras” for a list of compatible cameras.
  • • To perform the update, you will need the memory card used in the camera and a compatible card reader.
  • • Updates can be performed for you by a Nikon-authorized service representative.
  • • Read the information below before proceeding.

Important

Any camera and mount adapter firmware updates must be performed before the firmware for F mount lenses can be updated. Before updating the firmware for F mount lenses:

  1. Check the camera firmware and update to the latest version if the “C” firmware version is earlier than 3.10 (Z 7 or Z 6) or 2.00 (Z 50). Remove the FTZ mount adapter before updating the camera firmware.
  2. Check the mount adapter firmware and update to the latest version if the mount adapter (MA) firmware version is earlier than 1.10. Remove F mount lenses before updating the mount adapter firmware.

Users of the Z 6II and other Z-series cameras released in or after November, 2020, should install this update if the camera displays a message prompting them to update the FTZ mount adapter firmware.

Viewing the Mount Adapter Firmware Version
  1. Attach an FTZ mount adapter to the camera and turn the camera on.
  2. Press the camera MENU button and select SETUP MENU > Firmware version to display the camera and mount adapter (MA) firmware versions.
  3. Check the mount adapter firmware version.
  4. Turn the camera off.

Updating the Mount Adapter Firmware
  1. Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
  2. Download F-FTZ-V0110W.exe to the folder created in Step 1.
  3. Run F-FTZ-V0110W.exe to extract the following file to a folder named “FTZUpdate”:
    • MAFTZ0110.bin (the mount adapter firmware)
  4. Using a card slot or card reader, copy “MAFTZ0110.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
    Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
  5. Attach the FTZ mount adapter to the camera.
  6. Insert the memory card into the camera and turn the camera on.
  7. Select SETUP MENU > Firmware version and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the firmware update.
  8. When a message is displayed stating that the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  9. Turn the camera on and confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

Updating the Mount Adapter Firmware
  1. Download F-FTZ-V0110M.dmg.
  2. Double-click the F-FTZ-V0110M.dmg icon to mount a disk image containing a folder named “FTZUpdate”, which in turn contains the following file:
    • MAFTZ0110.bin (the mount adapter firmware)
  3. Using a card slot or card reader, copy “MAFTZ0110.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
    Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
  4. Attach the FTZ mount adapter to the camera.
  5. Insert the memory card into the camera and turn the camera on.
