This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below. By selecting “Accept” and clicking “Download”, you are held to have accepted the terms and conditions of the agreement. Be sure you understand the terms of the agreement before beginning download.

  • • This service supplies software that can be used to update the firmware for COOLPIX W100 cameras to version 1.6. Before proceeding, select Firmware version in the Camera settings menu and check the camera firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
  • • This update includes all changes made in previous updates.
  • • Read the information below before proceeding.

Important

Images stored in the camera’s internal memory will be deleted when the firmware is updated. Be sure to back up images stored in the camera’s internal memory before updating the firmware. See the camera manual for instructions on copying images from internal memory to a memory card.

Changes from Firmware Version 1.5 to 1.6
  • • Fixed the following issue:
    • - When users attempted to pair the camera with the smart device using the SnapBridge app under iOS 13, pairing would end in failure and a message to that effect would be displayed.

Changes from Firmware Version 1.4 to 1.5
  • • Improved an issue that interfered with pairing or resulted in unreliable connections when the camera was used with the Android edition of the SnapBridge app.
Changes from Firmware Version 1.3 to 1.4
  • • Fixed an issue that could result in rapid depletion of the battery if the camera was left unused after being fully charged using the supplied charging AC adapter and USB cable.
Changes from Firmware Version 1.2 to 1.3
  • • Improved an issue that resulted in unreliable connections between the camera and the iOS 10.2 version of the SnapBridge app.
  • • Improved the reliability of photo and movie transfer using the SnapBridge app.
Changes from Firmware Version 1.1 to 1.2
  • • Fixed an issue that in rare cases prevented the camera turning on and increased the drain on the battery when Disable was selected for Bluetooth > Connection and On for Airplane mode in Camera settings > Network menu.
Changes from Firmware Version 1.0 to 1.1
  • • The camera now supports the iOS version of SnapBridge.
  • • Fixed the following issues:
    • - Remote shooting would sometimes end and the camera would display the view through the lens if SnapBridge was used repeatedly to shoot remote photos at original size.
    • - Photographs taken using Shoot at intervals would not all be saved to the same folder when the camera was paired with a smartphone or tablet.
    • - The camera would sometimes freeze during movie playback if fast forward was stopped just before the final frame.
Viewing the Camera Firmware Version
  1. Turn the camera on.
  2. Press flexible button 4 on the camera to display the Settings menu.
  3. Press flexible button 4 to select Camera settings, then display Firmware version using the multi selector and press flexible button 4.
  4. Check the camera firmware version.
  5. Turn the camera off.

Updating the Camera Firmware
  1. Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
  2. Download F-W100-V16W.exe to the folder created in Step 1.
  3. Run F-W100-V16W.exe to extract the firmware to a sub-folder in the new folder. The resulting file and folder hierarchy is shown below:
    • firmware (the sub-folder containing the firmware)
    • firmware.bin (the camera firmware, located in the “firmware” folder)
  4. Using a card slot or card reader, copy the “firmware” folder to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
    Note: Be sure to copy the “firmware” folder to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
  5. Insert the memory card into the camera and turn the camera on.
  6. Select Firmware version in Settings > Camera settings and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
  7. Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  8. Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

Note: We recommend that you back up images stored in the camera’s internal memory before updating the firmware. See the camera manual for information on copying images from internal memory to a memory card.
