This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below. By selecting “Accept” and clicking “Download”, you are held to have accepted the terms and conditions of the agreement. Be sure you understand the terms of the agreement before beginning download.

- • This service supplies software that can be used to update the firmware for AF-S NIKKOR 180–400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR lenses to version 1.02. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
- • This firmware update is performed with an AF-S NIKKOR 180–400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR lens attached to a camera. See “Compatible Cameras” for a list of compatible cameras.
- • This update includes all changes made in previous updates.
- • Read the information below before proceeding.

- Important
- Disable the built-in teleconverter before proceeding and be sure not to enable it while the update is in progress. The update cannot be performed with the teleconverter switch set to 1.4x.

The following cameras can be used to update the firmware for AF-S NIKKOR 180–400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR lenses:
- • The D6, D5, D850, D780, D500, D7500, D3500, and D3400
- • All Z-series cameras (FTZ or FTZ II required)

Note: Other cameras cannot be used.

- Attach an AF-S NIKKOR 180–400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR lens to the camera and turn the camera on.
- Press the camera MENU button and select SETUP MENU > Firmware version to display the camera and lens firmware versions.
- Check the firmware version.
- Turn the camera off.

- Updating the Lens Firmware

- Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
- Download F-LFAFS180-400F4ETC14FLEDVR-V0102W.exe to the folder created in Step 1.
- Run F-LFAFS180-400F4ETC14FLEDVR-V0102W.exe to extract the following file to a folder named “LFAFS180-400F4ETC14FLEDVRUpdate”:
• LFAFS180_400F4ETC14FLEDVR0102.bin (the lens firmware)
- Using a card slot or card reader, copy “LFAFS180_400F4ETC14FLEDVR0102.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
- Insert the memory card in the camera (insert the card into Slot 1 or, if the camera allows you to select one slot as the primary slot and the other as the secondary slot, into the slot currently selected as the primary slot) and then turn the camera on.
- Select SETUP MENU > Firmware version and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the firmware update.
- When a message is displayed stating that the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
- Turn the camera on and confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

- Download F-LFAFS180-400F4ETC14FLEDVR-V0102M.dmg.
- Double-click the F-LFAFS180-400F4ETC14FLEDVR-V0102M.dmg icon to mount a disk image containing a folder named “LFAFS180-400F4ETC14FLEDVRUpdate”, which in turn contains the following file:
• LFAFS180_400F4ETC14FLEDVR0102.bin (the lens firmware)
