This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below. By selecting “Accept” and clicking “Download”, you are held to have accepted the terms and conditions of the agreement. Be sure you understand the terms of the agreement before beginning download.

- • This service supplies software that can be used to update the D5300 camera “C” firmware to version 1.03. Before proceeding, select Firmware version in the camera SETUP MENU and check the camera firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
- • This update includes all changes made in previous updates.
- • Read the information below before proceeding.

- • The SETUP MENU > Time zone and date > Time zone display now shows only the names of major cities in the currently selected zone.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.01 to 1.02
- • Fixed an issue that sometimes resulted in incorrect exposure for the first photo taken in live view.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.00 to 1.01
- • AF-P DX NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR and AF-P DX NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G lenses are now supported. Vibration reduction can be enabled or disabled using the new Optical VR option in the photo SHOOTING MENU, which is displayed when an AF-P DX NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR lens is attached.
- • Fixed the following issues:
- - Choosing negative values for Exposure compensation in the RETOUCH MENU > NEF (RAW) processing display did not have the desired effect.
- - Continued scrolling of the menus for some languages would cause the camera to freeze.
Note
Once this firmware is installed, the Windows edition of Camera Control Pro 2 versions 2.22.0 and earlier will no longer be able to detect the camera. Upgrade to version 2.23.0 or later.

- Viewing the Camera Firmware Version

- Turn the camera on.
- Press the camera MENU button and select Firmware version in the SETUP MENU to display the camera firmware version.
- Check the camera firmware version.
- Turn the camera off.

- Updating the Camera Firmware
-
- Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
- Download F-D5300-V103W.exe to the folder created in Step 1.
- Run F-D5300-V103W.exe to extract the following file to a folder named “D5300Update”:
• D5300_0103.bin (the camera firmware)
- Using a card slot or card reader, copy “D5300_0103.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
- Insert the memory card into the Slot on the camera and turn the camera on.
- Select Firmware version in the SETUP MENU and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
- Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
- Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

- Download F-D5300-V103M.dmg.
- Double-click the F-D5300-V103M.dmg icon to mount a disk image containing a folder named “D5300Update”, which in turn contains the following file:
• D5300_0103.bin (the camera firmware)
