- • This service supplies software that can be used to update the D800 camera “A” and “B” firmware to version 1.11. The update can be performed on both the “A” and “B” firmware simultaneously. Before proceeding, select Firmware version in the camera SETUP MENU and check the camera firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
- • Read the information below before proceeding.
|
Notice
- • Before proceeding with the update, users of Lexar 400× and 1000× CompactFlash® memory cards will need to follow the steps here to check compatibility.
- • Do not attempt to load settings saved using Save/load settings for firmware “A” version 1.01/“B” version 1.02 or earlier onto a D800 with “A”/“B” firmware version 1.10 or later. Settings saved with firmware “A” version 1.01/“B” version 1.02 or earlier are not compatible with D800 “A”/“B” firmware version 1.10 or later.

- Changes from “A”/“B” Firmware Version 1.10 to Version 1.11
-
- • Added the following supports for AF-P lenses:
- - If the standby timer expires after focusing, the focus position will no longer change when the timer is reactivated.
- - When focus is adjusted by rotating the lens focus ring, the focus indicator in the viewfinder (and in live view, the focus point in the monitor) now flash to indicate when infinity or the minimum focus distance is reached.
- • Added support for AF-P DX lenses.
- • Fixed the following issue:
- - When photos were taken using Camera Control Pro 2 after Custom Setting d10 (Exposure delay mode) was enabled in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU, the software would sometimes mistakenly display a message stating that no photo could be taken.

- Changes from Previous Versions
-
Changes from Firmware “A” Version 1.01/“B” Version 1.02 to “A”/“B” Version 1.10
- • Added Assign movie record button at Position f13 in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU. *
- • With the addition of Assign movie record button at Position f13 in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU, the Assign MB-D12 AF-ON option in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU has been reassigned to Position f14.
- • Added an Assign remote Fn button at Position f15 in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU. *
- • Added or renamed features for use with the UT-1 communication unit firmware version 2.0. A Network (UT-1) option has consequently been added to the setup menu and the Wireless transmitter option in the setup menu has been renamed Wireless transmitter (WT-4). The following function was added:
- - HTTP mode: The contents of the camera memory card can be viewed and photos taken remotely from a computer or iPhone using a web browser.
- The following functions were renamed:
- - “Transfer mode (FTP)” is now “FTP upload” and is used to upload photos and movies from the camera memory card to an ftp server immediately after shooting
- - “Transfer mode (PC)” is now “Image transfer” and is used to upload photos and movies from the camera memory card to a computer immediately after shooting
- - “PC mode” is now “Camera control” and is used with optional Camera Control Pro 2 software to control the camera remotely and save photos and movies to a computer
- The foregoing features require UT-1 firmware version 2.0 or later and version 1.5.0 or later of the Wireless Transmitter Utility. Note that after updating the camera firmware you will no longer be able to use network and connection settings created with earlier versions and must adjust settings for connection again.
- • Added support for UT-1 communication unit firmware updates.
- • Added support for CompactFlash memory cards with capacities over 128 GB.
- • If the AF-ON button is used to focus during viewfinder photography when AF-ON only is selected for Custom Setting a4 (AF activation) in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU, focus will remain locked when the button is released. Previously the shutter could then be released at any time, but under the following conditions this behavior has been changed so that the shutter will not be released if the camera is unable to focus: *
- - AF-S is selected for AF mode
- - Single-point AF is selected for AF-area mode
- - Focus is selected for Custom Setting a2 (AF-S priority selection) in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU
- • Fixed an issue that resulted in List saved values failing to display the complete list when fine-tuning values 12 or 18 lenses were saved using AF fine-tune > Saved value in the setup menu.
- • Fixed an issue that prevented the camera measuring values for preset white balance when live view photography was selected with the live view selector and Record movies was selected for Custom Setting g4 (Assign shutter button) in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU.
- • Fixed an issue that sometimes resulted in remote flash units not firing when the built-flash was used in commander mode.
- • Fixed an issue that in rare circumstances resulted in the memory card access lamp taking longer than usual to turn off, leaving the controls unresponsive for an extended period.
* A supplementary manual describing this feature is available.
Notice
- • Before proceeding with the update, users of Lexar 400× and 1000× CompactFlash® memory cards will need to follow the steps here to check compatibility.
- • Do not attempt to load settings saved using Save/load settings for firmware “A” version 1.01/“B” version 1.02 or earlier onto a D800 with “A”/“B” firmware version 1.10. Settings saved with firmware “A” version 1.01/“B” version 1.02 or earlier are not compatible with D800 “A”/“B” firmware version 1.10.
- • Before using a card reader or the like to copy pictures to a computer from a memory card with a capacity exceeding 128 GB, confirm that both the computer operating system and card reader support capacities over 128 GB, as otherwise you may encounter such problems as being unable to transfer images. Note that because memory cards with capacities over 128 GB are supported from camera “A”/“B” firmware version 1.10, files can now be copied via USB.

- • Improved tracking for moving subjects when AF-C (continuous-servo AF) is selected for AF mode during viewfinder photography.

- • Fixed an issue that resulted in exposure preview always being enabled during live view photography in exposure mode M (manual).
- • Fixed an issue that in rare circumstances resulted in movie recording ending with recording time still available.
- • Fixed an issue that caused a purple stripe to appear at the right edge of small-size TIFF photos.

|

- • Fixed an issue that in rare circumstances caused the monitor to turn off and the camera to stop responding with the memory card access lamp lit if photos were taken during playback.
- • Fixed an issue with the WT-4 wireless transmitter that at some settings resulted in NEF (RAW) images being transferred when JPEG only was selected for Send file as.
