D4 Firmware

• This service supplies software that can be used to update the D4 camera “A” and “B” firmware to version 1.11. The update can be performed on both the “A” and “B” firmware simultaneously. Before proceeding, select Firmware version in the camera SETUP MENU and check the camera firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed. • Read the information below before proceeding.

IMPORTANT: Firmware updates cannot be performed if Enable is currently selected for Network > Network connection in the SETUP MENU. Select Disable for Network connection before proceeding.

Notice • Before proceeding with the update, users of Lexar 400× and 1000× CompactFlash® memory cards will need to follow the steps here to check compatibility. • Do not attempt to load settings saved using Save/load settings for firmware “A” version 1.05/“B” version 1.03 or earlier onto a D4 with “A”/“B” firmware version 1.10 or later. Settings saved with firmware “A” version 1.05/“B” version 1.03 or earlier are not compatible with D4 “A”/“B” firmware version 1.10 or later.

• Added the following supports for AF-P lenses: - If the standby timer expires after focusing, the focus position will no longer change when the timer is reactivated. - When focus is adjusted by rotating the lens focus ring, the focus indicator in the viewfinder (and in live view, the focus point in the monitor) now flash to indicate when infinity or the minimum focus distance is reached. • Added support for AF-P DX lenses. • Fixed the following issue: - When photos were taken using Camera Control Pro 2 after Custom Setting d10 (Exposure delay mode) was enabled in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU, the software would sometimes mistakenly display a message stating that no photo could be taken.

• Added an Assign remote Fn button option at Position f17 in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU. • Added support for CompactFlash memory cards with capacities over 128 GB. • If the AF-ON button is used to focus during viewfinder photography when AF-ON only is selected for Custom Setting a4 (AF activation) in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU, focus will remain locked when the button is released. Previously the shutter could then be released at any time, but under the following conditions this behavior has been changed so that the shutter will not be released if the camera is unable to focus: - AF-S is selected for AF mode - Single-point AF is selected for AF-area mode - Focus is selected for Custom Setting a2 (AF-S priority selection) in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU. A supplementary manual describing this feature is available. • Fixed an issue that resulted in the top control panel displaying “Err” when both XQD and CompactFlash cards were inserted in the camera. Note that because memory cards with capacities over 128 GB are supported from camera “A”/“B” firmware version 1.10, files can now be copied via USB.

• Format memory card can now be added to MY MENU. • Added color space conversion for Adobe RGB images displayed in the camera monitor so that no loss of saturation occurs. • Improved the reliability of the connection when the camera is in FTP upload mode. • Fixed an issue that resulted in the minimum aperture value being selected when movies were filmed with P or S selected for Exposure mode and Aperture ring selected for Custom Setting f10 (Customize command dials) > Aperture setting in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU. • Fixed an issue that caused Capture NX 2 and ViewNX 2 to incorrectly display the focus point for photographs taken during movie recording with 1920×1080; 30 fps; crop, 1920×1080; 25 fps; crop, or 1920×1080; 24 fps; crop selected for Movie settings > Frame size/frame rate and Live frame grab selected for Custom Setting g4 (Assign shutter button) in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU. • Fixed an issue that caused the camera to stop responding if Format memory card was selected in the SETUP MENU in HTTP server mode.

• Fixed an issue that in rare circumstances caused the monitor to turn off and the camera to stop responding with the memory card access lamp lit if photos were taken during playback. • Fixed an issue with the network feature that at some settings resulted in NEF (RAW) images being transferred when JPEG only was selected for Send file as. • Fixed an issue that at some settings resulted in shutter speed, aperture, or exposure compensation changing if the main command dial was used to zoom pictures in or out according to a function added using Custom Setting f15 (Playback zoom) in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU.

Viewing the Camera Firmware Version

1. Turn the camera on.
2. Press the camera MENU button and select Firmware version in the SETUP MENU to display the camera firmware version.
3. Check the camera firmware version.
4. Turn the camera off.
