About this firmware update
This service provides the software for upgrading the COOLPIX S520 firmware to ver. 1.2.
The following improvements have been made in version 1.2.
- When a shooting interval of 30 minutes or longer was specified with interval timer shooting or time-lapse movies, shots were taken at intervals less than that specified. This issue has now been resolved.
How to confirm your cameras current firmware version
If the latest firmware versions are already installed on your S520, you need not proceed with download or installation of this Firmware Upgrade. Current firmware versions can be verified from the Firmware version item in the camera's setup menu.
1. Turn the camera on and press the favourites button (*).
2. Select Setup mode icon and scroll through the options to Firmware Version.
3. Select Firmware version and the cameras firmware version will be displayed.
4. Turn the camera off.
Quick guide for download and installing this firmware update
Power the camera from AC adapter unit or use a fully charged battery.
1. Download and expand the firmware files
2. Format an approved SD card in the camera
3. Connect Camera to computer (in MSC USB mode) or use a SD Card Reader
4. Copy to the top level of the card the downloaded "firmware" folder (which contains the "firmware.bin" file)
5. Disconnect camera from computer
6. Turn the camera on press the Favourites button (*), select Setup mode icon and press ok. Scroll down to Firmware version, and press OK button.
7. Follow the camera's on-screen menus. Do not turn the camera off before the upgrade is complete.
8. At completion of upgrade restart camera
9. Re-format Card
