This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below. By selecting “Accept” and clicking “Download”, you are held to have accepted the terms and conditions of the agreement. Be sure you understand the terms of the agreement before beginning download.

  • • This service supplies software that can be used to update the D7100 camera “C” firmware to version 1.05. Before proceeding, select Firmware version in the camera setup menu and check the camera firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
  • • This update includes all changes made in previous updates.
  • • Read the information below before proceeding.
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.04 to 1.05
  • • Fixed an issue that resulted in live view ending about 10 minutes after being started in Camera Control Pro 2 with [No limit] selected for Custom Setting c4 [Monitor off delay] > [Live view] in the [CUSTOM SETTING MENU].
Changes from Previous Versions
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.03 to 1.04
  • • Added the following supports for AF-P lenses:
    • - If the standby timer expires after focusing, the focus position will no longer change when the timer is reactivated.
    • - When focus is adjusted by rotating the lens focus ring, the focus indicator in the viewfinder (and in live view, the focus point in the monitor) now flash to indicate when infinity or the minimum focus distance is reached.
  • • Fixed the following issue:
    • - Optimal exposure would sometimes not be achieved in photos taken in live view using a lens with electromagnetically controlled aperture (type E lenses).
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.02 to 1.03
  • • Reduced the occurrence of white spots in movies.
  • • Reduced noise (horizontal lines) in movies shot with 1280×720; 60p or 1280×720; 50p selected for Frame size/frame rate.
  • • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the display to darken when images were viewed by pressing the (playback) button.
  • • Fixed an issue with the menus for some languages where continued scrolling would cause the camera to freeze.
  • • Fixed issues with the virtual horizon displayed using the Viewfinder virtual horizon option.
  • • Fixed an issue with the camera freezing when the Clean image sensor option was used.
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.01 to 1.02
  • • The camera now supports auto distortion control data version “L” 2.000 and later. Update the camera firmware before updating to auto distortion control data version “L” 2.000 or later.
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.00 to 1.01
  • • Fixed an issue that caused the flash level to be displayed in place of flash compensation in the photo info overview display for photographs taken with a flash using the Manual or Repeating flash options.
  • • Fixed an issue that caused live view to stop updating if the AE-L/AF-L button was pressed when the display was zoomed in during color selection for the selective color special effect.
  • • Fixed an issue with the Viewfinder virtual horizon display freezing when certain operations were performed.
  • • Fixed an issue where the photo info display would show a fine-tuning value of “9” for photographs taken using WB bracketing when the total value was in fact greater than this amount.
  • • Fixed an issue that would freeze the cursor when certain operations were performed during calendar playback.
  • • Changed the font size for a portion of the calendar playback display.
  • • Changed how photo Exif data displays the focal length in 35 mm format equivalent.
  • • Fixed an issue that resulted in exposure not reflecting changes to shutter speed in movies shot in exposure mode M at a frame size and rate of 1920×1080; 24p.
Viewing the Camera Firmware Version
  1. Turn the camera on.
  2. Press the camera MENU button and select Firmware version in the setup menu to display the camera firmware version.
  3. Check the camera firmware version.
  4. Turn the camera off.

Updating the Camera Firmware
  1. Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
  2. Download F-D7100-V105W.exe to the folder created in Step 1.
  3. Run F-D7100-V105W.exe to extract the following file to a folder named “D7100Update”:
    • D7100_0105.bin (the camera firmware)
  4. Using a card slot or card reader, copy “D7100_0105.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
  5. Insert the memory card into the Slot 1 on the camera and turn the camera on.
  6. Select Firmware version in the setup menu and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
  7. Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  8. Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

Updating the Camera Firmware
  1. Download F-D7100-V105M.dmg.
  2. Double-click the F-D7100-V105M.dmg icon to mount a disk image containing a folder named “D7100Update”, which in turn contains the following file:
    • D7100_0105.bin (the camera firmware)
  3. Using a card slot or card reader, copy “D7100_0105.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
  4. Insert the memory card into the Slot 1 on the camera and turn the camera on.
  5. Select Firmware version in the setup menu and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
  6. Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  7. Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.
