This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below. By selecting “Accept” and clicking “Download”, you are held to have accepted the terms and conditions of the agreement. Be sure you understand the terms of the agreement before beginning download.

- • This service supplies software that can be used to update the D810 camera “C” firmware to version 1.14. Before proceeding, select Firmware version in the camera SETUP MENU and check the camera firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
- • This update includes all changes made in previous updates.
- • Read the information below before proceeding.

- • The D810 “C” firmware can be upgraded directly from version 1.00 to version 1.14 with no adverse effects. While updating to this version reduces the bright spots customers have noticed in long exposures, it does require that an imaging adjustment be performed by a Nikon-authorized service representative.
This update also reduces the bright spots that have been noted in photographs taken with 1.2× selected for image area.

- • The SETUP MENU > Time zone and date > Time zone display now shows only the names of major cities in the currently selected zone.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.12 to 1.13
- • Added the following supports for AF-P lenses:
- - If the standby timer expires after focusing, the focus position will no longer change when the timer is reactivated.
- - When focus is adjusted by rotating the lens focus ring, the focus indicator in the viewfinder (and in live view, the focus point in the monitor) now flash to indicate when infinity or the minimum focus distance is reached.
- • Fixed the following issues:
- - Microphone sensitivity would sometimes not be correctly adjusted when movies were recorded with Auto sensitivity selected for Microphone sensitivity.
- - The camera would sometimes stop responding during multiple exposure shooting.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.11 to 1.12
- • The WT-7 wireless transmitter is now supported.
- • Fixed the following issues:
- - Multiple exposures were not recorded correctly.
- - Incorrect histograms would be displayed for some images viewed in the RGB histogram display during playback.
- - If On was selected for Auto distortion control, distortion would appear at the edges of photos taken with NEF (RAW) + JPEG fine selected for Image quality and Medium selected for JPEG/TIFF recording > Image size.
- - Photos taken immediately after lenses were exchanged would not be recorded at the correct exposure.
- - The protect icon did not display correctly.
- - If On was selected for Auto distortion control, the camera would stop responding when the user attempted to take pictures with NEF (RAW) + JPEG fine selected for Image quality, Small selected for NEF (RAW) recording > Image size, and RAW primary - JPEG secondary selected for Secondary slot function.
- - Shutter speeds for the electronic front-curtain shutter would sometimes be faster than 1/2000 s.
- - Pictures would sometimes not be recorded.

- • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the camera to stop responding when attached to a WR‑R10 wireless remote controller running firmware version 3.00.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.02 to 1.10

• An External recording control option has been added to the HDMI item in the SETUP MENU. If the camera is connected via HDMI to a third-party recorder that supports the Atomos Open Protocol (the Atomos SHOGUN, NINJA2, or NINJA BLADE), selecting On allows camera controls to be used to start and stop recording. More information is available in a supplementary manual.
Note: Choose an option other than 576p (progressive) or 480p (progressive) for HDMI > Output resolution in the SETUP MENU.
- • Fixed the following issues:
- - Incorrect distances were shown in the camera playback info display for photographs taken with an optional flash unit in distance-priority manual (GN) mode.
- - The brightness of the live view photography display would not change when a command dial was rotated to adjust exposure compensation with On (Auto reset) selected for b Metering/exposure > b4 Easy exposure compensation > Easy exposure compensation in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU.
- - Although the preview button would stop the lens down to maximum aperture when assigned the Preview role, the maximum aperture indicator would not appear in the monitor.
- - In rare cases, the shutter would not be released when the user attempted to take photographs in movie live view.
- - About 4 seconds of static could be heard on audio recorded with external HDMI recorders during movie live view.
- - The shutter speed, aperture, and ISO sensitivity displayed in the monitor during movie live view would differ from values in the final movie file.
- - Volume could sometimes not be adjusted if movies were played with indicators hidden during full-frame playback (None (image only)).
- - Exposure compensation would fail to produce the desired results if a negative value was selected when NEF (RAW) images were processed using the NEF (RAW) processing option in the RETOUCH MENU.
- - Images would in rare cases fail to record correctly with HDR (high dynamic range) selected in the SHOOTING MENU.
- - If On was selected for Exposure smoothing during interval timer photography, every frame after the first would be overexposed.
- - File numbers were not assigned in the proper sequence.
- - In some languages, characters or parts of characters would be missing from the SETUP MENU > Location data > Position display.
- - In some languages, characters or parts of characters would be missing from the SETUP MENU > AF fine-tune > List saved values display.
- • Some help text has been changed.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.01 to 1.02
- • Fixed issue with display that occurred if playback zoom was used during image review while the memory card access lamp was lit.
- • Fixed issues with the menu and other displays in the camera monitor and on the television when 4K TVs were connected via HDMI.
- • Reduced the noise that could sometimes be heard when an option other than Off was selected for d1 Beep in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU.

- Updating the Camera Firmware

- Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
- Download F-D810-V114W.exe to the folder created in Step 1.
- Run F-D810-V114W.exe to extract the following file to a folder named “D810Update”:
• D810_0114.bin (the camera firmware)
- Using a card slot or card reader, copy “D810_0114.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
- Insert the memory card into the camera slot currently selected as the primary slot and turn the camera on.
Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
- Select Firmware version in the SETUP MENU and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
- Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
- Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

- Updating the Camera Firmware

- Download F-D810-V114M.dmg.
- Double-click the F-D810-V114M.dmg icon to mount a disk image containing a folder named “D810Update”, which in turn contains the following file:
• D810_0114.bin (the camera firmware)
- Using a card slot or card reader, copy “D810_0114.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
- Insert the memory card into the camera slot currently selected as the primary slot and turn the camera on.
