  • • This service supplies software that can be used to update the D5200 camera “C” firmware to version 1.03. Before proceeding, select Firmware version in the camera setup menu and check the camera firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
  • • Read the information below before proceeding.
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.02 to 1.03
  • • Reduced noise (horizontal lines) in movies shot with 1280×720; 60p or 1280×720; 50p selected for Frame size/frame rate.
  • • Fixed an issue with the camera freezing when the Clean image sensor option was used.
Changes from Previous Versions
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.01 to 1.02
  • • An error message was added for retractable lenses such as the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR II. The message is displayed and the shutter release disabled when the lens is retracted.
  • • The Slower and Faster labels in the Hindi version of the ISO sensitivity settings > Minimum shutter speed > Auto display were reversed; the display has been changed to fix this issue.
  • • We have changed how photo Exif data displays the focal length in 35 mm format equivalent.
  • • The following issues have been fixed:
    • - The camera would freeze when items were added to MY MENU (Add items).
    • - When AF-ON was assigned to the AE-L/AF-L button, the camera would under some conditions fail to focus when the button was pressed.
    • - Noise in the form of lines would sometimes appear in the bottom right corner of photos taken using HDR (high dynamic range).
Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.00 to 1.01
  • • The camera now correctly shows the battery level for EN-EL14a rechargeable Li-ion batteries. In “C” firmware version 1.00, endurance (measured in the number of photos that could be taken on a full charge) for the EN-EL14a was less than that for the EN-EL14. Version 1.01 now exploits the full potential of the EN-EL14a so that its endurance is now greater than the EN-EL14. As of version 1.01, the approximate numbers of photographs and length of movie footage that can be taken with a fully-charged EN-EL14a (7.2 V DC, 1230 mAh) are as follows:
    Photographs, single-frame release mode (CIPA standard *): 540
    Photographs, continuous release mode (Nikon standard *): 2050
    Movies (CIPA standard *): 45 minutes
    * See the D5200 manual.
