Downloading UT-1 Communication Unit Firmware Version 2.4

  • • This service supplies software that can be used to update the UT-1 communication unit firmware to version 2.4. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
  • • Updates to the UT-1 firmware are performed with the unit connected to the camera. See “Cameras That Can Be Used to Update UT-1 Firmware” for information on compatible cameras.
  • • UT-1 firmware version 2.4 requires Wireless Transmitter Utility version 1.5.5 or later. System requirements are available from the Wireless Transmitter Utility download site and in the latest edition of the UT-1 version 2 manual. Users of the D800 and D800E must also update to camera firmware versions “A” 1.10/“B” 1.10 or later. Software and camera firmware updates are available for download from the Nikon website.

Cameras That Can Be Used to Update UT-1 Firmware

UT-1 firmware updates can be performed with the following cameras:

  • • The D810, D810A, D750, D7200, and D7100
  • • D800 and D800E firmware versions “A” 1.10/“B” 1.10 or later.

Note: Other cameras can not be used, but updates can be performed for you by a Nikon-authorized service representative.

Changes from Firmware Version 2.3
  • • The D810A is now supported.
Using the UT-1 Communication Unit with the D810A
Refer to the latest edition of the UT-1 version 2 manual for information on using the UT-1 communication unit with the D810A.
Viewing the UT-1 Firmware Version
  1. Connect the camera and UT-1 using a USB cable and turn both devices on.
  2. Press the camera MENU button, go to the setup menu, and select Network (UT-1) (D800 and D800E) or Network (other cameras) > Options > Firmware version to display the UT-1 firmware version.
  3. Check the UT-1 firmware version.
  4. Turn off the camera and the UT-1.

Updating the Firmware
  1. Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
  2. Download “F-UT1-V24_W.exe” to the folder created in Step 1.
  3. Run “F-UT1-V24_W.exe” to extract the following file to a folder named “UT1Update”:
    • _UT1_24_.bin (the UT-1 firmware)
  4. Using a card slot or card reader, copy “_UT1_24_.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
  5. Insert the memory card into the camera and turn the camera on. If the camera has more than one memory card slot, insert the card into Slot 1 or the slot currently designated as the primary slot.
  6. Connect the camera and UT-1 using a USB cable and turn both devices on.
  7. Press the camera MENU button, go to the setup menu, and select Network (UT-1) (D800 and D800E) or Network (other cameras) > Options > Firmware version and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
  8. Once the update is complete, turn off the camera and UT-1 and then remove the memory card from the camera.
  9. Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

  2. Double-click the F-UT1-V24_M.dmg icon to mount a disk image containing a folder named “UT1Update”, which in turn contains the following file:
